Alpinestars Stella Vika Motorcycle Apparel Review

Alpinestars Stella Vika motorcycle apparel collection is a women specific ride gear that raises the bar for lady riders. On the complete opposite spectrum of the common heavy duty, stiff and cumbersome riding jackets the Vika is a buttery soft full-grain leather that will have you wondering if it’s a luxury fashion find.

The Stella Vika Motorcycle jacket is made to flatter the female figure, this tailor style encompasses a proprietary design pattern that visually and physically thins, lengthens, and flatters the female figure. The lower back is extended for riding comfort and coverage while the pre-curved sleeves improve fit and comfort on the bike. Removable soft and thin CE-certified heat-and-impact-sensitive shoulder and elbow protection that hardens on collision is strategically place to allow for freedom of movement that doesn’t hinder movement. A one-piece soft leather collar provides a seamless construction around the neck for a soft comfortable fit and secures with a smart Velcro closure hence allowing for a more comfortable fit.  The interior has well place storage pockets with two zip hand pockets and larger Velcro interior pockets to carry your essentials. A sleek vertical wallet pocket in offered with a subtle stylish red zipper pulls. A back proctor sleeve pocket is also offered as well as an internal waist connection zipper for connection to Vika pants. Body contouring and ultra-comfortable, the Alpinestars Stella Vika motorcycle jacket is sure to having you turning heads where ever you ride.

Following suit is the matching Alpinestars Stella Vika Leather Motorcycle Pants

Blending fashion with function and doing it well the Vika pants will not disappoint. Made to hug the body in all the right places its clear the Vika line inspired by the fashion runway trends of the top design houses and engineered to meet a woman’s needs for the bike and beyond. Just like the jacket, the pants are patterned in a way that visually and physically thins, lengthens, and flatters the female figure. The heat-and-impact-sensitive knee protection hardens on collision. It was especially chosen for Vika because it's so soft and thin that it allows the slimline shape to be retained and is unobtrusive for the wearer. Pre-curved leg shaping improves fit and comfort on the bike. Waist connection zipper for connection to Vika jacket. For more information go to:

Alpinestars Stella Vika Glove

Alpinestars Stella line is riding gear made exclusively for women and I’m a huge fan of the Alpinestars Stella Vika collection. The Vika apparel fills the void of long wanted well-designed fashion for everyday motorcycle riding.

The women’s Vika leather gloves are ultra comfortable and so soft you may question if they offer real world protection, which in fact they do. Designed specifically for a women’s hand shape with the focus of performance and protection they’re crafted with a full -grain bovine hide and goat skin leather and as well as 5mm EVA knuckle protection for improved impact absorption.

They have a short cuff design with a seamless cuff construction, which serves well to provide comfort in the wrist area. The convenient zip closure has been strategically placed on an elasticize panel to offer a secure fit all well adding to the comfort. I would recommend sizing up if you tend to be right in between sizes, as I tend to be. As with the whole Vika Collection these gloves are fabulous for everyday casual riding and have a luxury feel that is second to none. The slim silhouette of Vika Apparel was never intended for track day use or hard-core riding, however for riders and passengers who have been in search superior comfort and fashion, the Vika line is the only way to ride.

River Roads Women’s Twin Buckle Engineer boots

Classic biker styling with River Roads Women’s Twin Buckle Engineer boots.

The classic styling of River Road Women's Twin Buckle Engineer boots has long been a staple in the world of two wheels.

With my ongoing “sole” mission of finding good riding boots to step forward in, these are the first pair of River Road motorcycle riding boots I’ve seen up close and personal. I’m looking forward to testing out all the River Road women’s styles and giving you a gear shifting report that will hopefully help you in deciding what may work best for you.

The Twin Buckle Engineer is a timeless style that will crossover and meet your needs of riding and blend nicely into the daily life for those of us that embrace, live and breathe the moto lifestyle.

My first impression putting the boot on is it feels durable and sturdy feeling as if it’s going to hold up well. It features a

7 ½” upper calf designed crafted with a high quality full grain oiled leather. The heel is a 1 5/8" threaded heel, which seems just enough for a stable balance when riding. The rubber outsole is an oil resistant rubber and feels pretty heavy duty giving a confident feel it will stand the test of time well. The insole is breathable and padded, which is a must for comfort. I find the sizing a bit more generous in comparison to other motorcycle riding specific boots on the market. River Road ladies boots are designated with a “w” after the size to designate it being a women’s specific footwear, not as a reference to a wider width which they do not offer. I’m always fond of companies that stand behind their products and I’m please to mention, River Road boots come with a 1-year warranty.

As I test them riding and shifting they work well, they feel stable when putting your foot down at a stop. I would also recommend these for ladies who ride as passenger. Time and time again, I see these beautiful gals wearing fashion boots while riding pillion and I always get concerned about there safety.

Whether you’re riding your own or riding on enjoying the scenery riding as a passenger the River Road Women's Twin Buckle Engineer Boot is a great option that I highly recommend.

Icon’s women’s specific Sacred Tall Motorcycle Riding boots

Icon’s women’s specific Sacred Tall Motorcycle Riding boots.

We have so many different choices of boots in the market place that finding the right pair of boots is a challenge.  We need to check out several to find exactly what suits our needs.

Whether you’re looking for a riding boot only or a multi-purpose functional boot, the requirement of protection, function and comfort of course first and paramount.  Styling that doesn’t hinder shifting or have a cumbersome bulk are a few of the features that separate the needs of motorcyclists.

The Icon’s Sacred Tall Boot is a great versatile choice. The riding protective features include an axialmetric steel shank, padded shin panel, custom molded metal heel plate and molded rubber shifter nubs, while also blending stylish features. The low profile Icon outsole and the 12” top grain leather upper in an appealing package that won’t disappoint. Another mention is this is not a waterproof boot. I would recommend Icon’s Reign waterproof boot as a better choice if your going to be waddling in water puddles often. If you don’t require a fully sealed lining and waterproofing features then this style will suit you fine.

Eyeballing and giving this boot the feel test, the exterior has a nice mid-calf women’s specific fit. What a welcome change from the boxy ugly choices we were limited to in the past. The boots feel good right from the get go.  Sturdy and protective without the fear of being plagued with the “break in blister” period. I’m going to recommend you “size up” with this style. With the oodles of boots I have reviewed these tend to run smaller than most. I do like how they feel shifting. On the Ducati I felt like I could run thru the gears just fine without being restricted by boot bulge. On the Harley they feel just as comfortable.

It’s so refreshing to see how far women’s riding gear has come in the past few years. The ongoing efforts for women specific gear is something Icon had been a solid force in developing. They have done a great job of combining technology and state of the art materials, fine-tuning the critical balance of function and design.

I’m pleased to say ... Icon’s Sacred Tall boots are an attractive offering.

Functional and flatter these boots are a step in the right direction for women riders. For more information visit:

Sole report on the Harley-Davidson Lifestyle Dulcie Motorcycle Boots

Sole report on the Harley-Davidson Lifestyle Dulcie Motorcycle Boots

As my ongoing "sole searchin" path continues, today let’s check out a pair of Lifestyle Harley Davidson Boots – the Dulcie.

Here’s the generic basic boot info:

Full grain leather upper, strap and buckle on vamp, strap with snaps on collar, pull strap in back for easy entry, full length cushion sock lining, fashionable 10" shaft height, 1" Heel height, locking inside zipper, round toe, simulated leather outsole with rubber, Goodyear construction.

Now let's translate that to actual touch n feel. Upon first glance I like what I see, however, as the victim of one too many "boot buzz kills", let’s put them on and them make our assessment.  Let’s also keep in mind this style is from HD Footwear’s Lifestyle collection, it’s not made to be a super duty moto thrasher boot and is available to mainstream retailers, not that just as a dealer exclusive.

The boots feel nice, not heavy duty riding nice but comfortable enough to wear out and about for the day even when not on the bike. I like the round toe, the inside zip makes for easy on and off and I like the nice flat sturdy feeling of the sole. These have a little more room in the shaft which also offers enough room to tuck your pants in, along with not having a cumbersome bulky look if you'd rather wear your pant over the boot. They have a detailed strap at the top with two detailed snaps that allow for a little bit of adjustment, which is nice for chicken leg peeps like me. I’d like the strap to lay flat on the boot which it doesn’t. The top detail strap is designed to fit a bit loose which seems kind of funky and the end of the strap feels a little incomplete without  having a place to secure it. I’m sure most people wouldn’t even notice, but I’m on sole mission to not let any detail step away.  I do like the way they feel on and they fit pretty much true to size with just the slightest bit of heel slippage. This isn't enough to bug me or feel funny when shifting gears or riding, just something a picky sole searcher like me would pick up on. I like the bottom which has a signature HD along with the rubber bottom having some heavy duty looking sole traction.

I’m always looking for other color options besides black to step out in, so I love that these are available in both black and brown.

SOLE Review: Harley Davidson Footwear Savannah Motorcycle riding boots.
SOLE Review: Harley Davidson Footwear Savannah Motorcycle riding boots.

Boots are HOT and I love boots!

I’m not much of a shoe collector, since breaking my metatarsals years back filming a fitness video. To add insult to injury, I did not give it the full time to heal and re broke it weeks later never to be the same again. That ended my days of cute, sexy, stylish heels and made me extremely picky about boots, especially protective footwear for riding.

So along with function, comfort is super important to me.  I have a low tolerance for “pain for fashion” so when I’m riding I don’t want anything ruining my moto buzz, uncomfortable boots will do just that.

So let’s take a look at the Harley Davidson Savannah boots.

This style features Full-grain leather uppers, cushioned insole, full-length inside zipper, durable rubber outsole, lace-up closure with durable metal eyelets and speed hooks with heel pull. The Goodyear® welt construction features an adjustable strap with buckle around the shaft.

Heel height: 1 1⁄2”, platform height: 1⁄2”, shaft: 14 1⁄2” and a circumference: 15 (Based on a 8.5 size boot)

They fit pretty much true to size and picky me, finds them comfortable. I like the easy access with the full length zipper and really like that the lace up closure on the front, this allows for me to make them a little more snug. I have little calves and find this to be an in between calf fit. Those with a more athletic calf can loosen up the laces and chicken legs like me can tighten them up. The metal logo represents but doesn’t scream “hey look at me” which I like. I also like the rubber outsole which makes for nice traction on various surfaces. The Goodyear® welt construction is made to last.

With a nice bottom sole they feel stable and secure on a bike but comfortable enough to walk around at a rally or bike event.

The photo simply does no do them justice. They really look good on. Combine the flattering fit with the functional design, sturdy feel and application as durable good and safe riding boots, you got a good win!

I love these and I don’t love easy…
